CHUCK REA ~ As a former Avalanche Forecaster and Cat Ski Guide, Chuck knows the local area as well as anyone. After several winters in the Sierra Mountains and the San Juans of southern Colorado, he relocated to McCall, and has explored the local backcountry for the past eleven seasons. Chuck has been teaching avalanche safety classes for the past eight years and is a trained course provider for the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE). Chuck has spent his summers as a river ranger or a wilderness raft/kayak guide on the Middle Fork and Main Salmon Rivers since his arrival in Idaho.
MARTY ROOD ~ An Idaho native, Marty has skied this area extensively for the past fourteen winters looking for the ideal place to put a hut. As the former Ski School Director at Brundage Mountain, he knew what to look for! Marty is also a certified PSIA instructor and a former backcountry ski guide for the Tamarack Resort. He also spends his summers guiding folks down the Middle fork and Main Salmon rivers here in Idaho, and loves to paddle whenever he can.
QUINT LYNCH ~ A lifetime skier, Quint has worked in local ski shops, as a Cat Ski Guide in the beginnings of the Tamarack Resort, and forcasted for the local Avalanche Center, all so he could make a few powder turns each winter. He is a qualified AIARE instructor and has volunteered many hours helping people stay safe in the local backcountry. Quint spends his spare time hiking Idaho's trails with his wife Sarah, their two sons, and a small herd of pack goats to carry the load.
GEORGE HALCOM ~ George grew up skiing at Brundage and it shows, an awesome skier, he has returned to the area after several years in the Military, to pursue a degree in Recreation. Congratulations on graduating this past summer.Through the University of Idaho, George has done an internship with us , working towards his Level II guides license. He is certified in Wilderness First Aid, Level 1 & 2 Avalanche Safety, and was a ski instructer at Brundage . He spent his summer in Alaska guiding hikers through the wilds.
GREGG LAWLEY ~ Owner/Operater of Precision Grooming, Gregg will be your driver up canyon to the yurts in his Bombardier Snow cat, with room for up to a dozen folks in comfort and style. Gregg is an avid nordic skier and is the trail groomer at the Little Bear Basin Nordic Trails. He was very involved with bringing the World Masters to McCall last winter. In his spare time Gregg collects used cooking oil from local resturaunts and turns it into Biodiesel in his home processing plant..... way to go Gregg.... now that's earnin' your turns!!!

With safety being our primary concern, all our guides are licensed with the State of Idaho as Level II Backcountry Ski Guides, and certified in Outdoor Emergency Care with the National Ski Patrol. Payette Powder Guides operates under a Special Use Permit on the the Payette National Forest, issued by the McCall Ranger District. We are an Idaho State Licensed Backcountry Ski Oufitter and are bonded and insured. We are also Professional Members of the American Avalanche Association.
