MARTY ROOD ~ An Idaho native, Marty has skied this area extensively for the past fifteen winters looking for the ideal place to put a hut. As the former Ski School Director at Brundage Mountain, he knew what to look for! Marty is also a certified PSIA instructor and a former backcountry ski guide for the Tamarack Resort. He also spends his summers guiding folks down the Middle fork and Main Salmon rivers here in Idaho, and loves to paddle whenever and wherever he can.
CHUCK REA ~ Chuck has been skiing the backcountry for over twenty years, ski bumming around the west, from the Sierra Mountains to the San Juans to the Wasatch before landing in McCall. Chuck has explored the local backcountry for the past twelve years, working as an Avalanche Forecaster and a cat ski guide. Chuck has been teaching the public about avalanche hazards and rescue techniques for the past ten years and is a trained course provider for the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE). Chuck has spent his summers working in the Salmon River drainage as both a ranger and a guide. He will be spending this summer closer to home trying to ride all the new Mtn. bike trails in the McCall area.
GEORGE HALCOM ~ George grew up skiing at Brundage and it shows, an awesome skier, he has returned to the area after several years in the Military, to pursue a degree in Recreation. After graduation from the University of Idaho, and an internship with us , George is now a fully licensed Level II guide, and a welcome addition to our small staff. He is certified in Wilderness First Aid, Level 1 & 2 Avalanche Safety, and was a ski instructer at Brundage . He is spending his summer in Oregon as a ranger for the BLM patroling the high deserts. He will be joining the Brundage Cat Ski crew this coming winter as well.
GREGG LAWLEY ~ Owner/Operater of Precision Grooming, Gregg will be your driver up canyon to the yurts in his Bombardier Snow cat, with room for up to a dozen folks in comfort and style. Gregg is an avid nordic skier and is the trail groomer at the Jug Mountain Ranch Nordic Trails. He was very involved with bringing the World Masters to McCall several winters ago. Gregg has spent the past couple of summers guiding folks down Alaskan rivers in search of fish. In his spare time Gregg collects used cooking oil from local resturaunts and turns it into Biodiesel in his home processing plant..... way to go Gregg.... now that's earnin' your turns!!!
MATT NEUMAN ~ The newest addition to the PPG staff...
Matt grew up biking and skiing the Cascade and Olympic Mountain Ranges. He spent many years building and riding trails in the Pacific Northwest. Matt moved to McCall eight years ago and spent his first 3 years designing and building the mountain bike trails for Tamarack Resort and driving snowcats. The past 4 years he worked for the Payette National Forest building and maintaining trails and participating as the President, and then Trail Day Coordinator for the Central Idaho Mountain Bike Association. His current projects include ULLR Skis, a custom-ski building business, and consulting for mountain bike trail designing and building. Being active in the outdoors and the community are his true passions.

With safety being our primary concern, all our guides are licensed with the State of Idaho as Level II Backcountry Ski Guides, and certified in Outdoor Emergency Care with the National Ski Patrol. Payette Powder Guides operates under a Special Use Permit on the the Payette National Forest, issued by the McCall Ranger District. We are an Idaho State Licensed Backcountry Ski Oufitter and are bonded and insured. We are also Professional Members of the American Avalanche Association.
